It was a great riding day, started out riding in beautiful San Clemente, CA through downtown. Got on 5 south heading to San Diego with about 25 miles of riding between gas stations. My reserve gets me about 20-25 miles depending how fast I ride. As you'll see, I run out of fuel from my main tank before San Onofre Campground, winds were strong and I could only manage to get up to 70mph. I had to ride behind large cars and trucks to get some wind draft. I make it to Oceanside and I know I'm running low on my reserve, with only half a mile left before my exit, I feel the bike sputter and sure enough, I run out. I call for help with gas... but as I'm sitting there for 5 minutes and after shaking the bike back and forth.... gas suddenly appears on my glass filter. I look down and notice that the glass filter is magically full of gas. Although not recorded, I start the bike up and make it to my exit where I fill up with fuel. Lesson learned, if you run out of gas on the rebel, let it sit for a few minutes and wait for the gas to settle. You should then get at least one more mile before you are completely out of gas. Bike is a 1986 Honda Rebel Limited edition gold package. Carrying side saddle bags and rear leather trunk that sits on my passenger seat. I carry at least 20 pounds of tools on one side, 20 pounds of parts on the other side and then more parts on my truck.
